ADIRONDACK THUNDER PLAYERS TO MAKE SPECIAL VISIT TO EMPIRE STATE PLAZA ICE RINK

Fans are invited to meet and skate with players from Capital Region’s professional hockey team on January 12

ALBANY, NY – Players from the Adirondack Thunder, the Capital Region’s professional hockey team, will make a special appearance at one of the area’s most iconic winter destinations – the Empire State Plaza ice rink – in downtown Albany on Sunday, January 12.

Fans are invited to hit the ice with Thunder players for a 45-minute skate beginning at 3 p.m. The players will meet with fans, sign autographs and take photos from 4 to 4:30 p.m. (weather permitting). Admission to the ice rink is free.

“Our players are excited to have the opportunity to skate on one of the region’s most popular and scenic outdoor rinks and to connect with current and future fans,” said Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead. “We invite everyone to join us for a fun afternoon in Albany and to catch a game in Glens Falls when the team returns home to the Cool Insuring Arena in mid-January.”

“I am very pleased to be welcoming players from the Adirondack Thunder to the Empire ‘Skate’ Plaza to thrill fans and inspire young skaters who dream of competing on the ice,” said New York State Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito. “Offering free ice skating, skating lessons, and opportunities to meet and skate with local hockey stars helps us meet Governor Cuomo’s longstanding priority to make the best use of public facilities.”

After starting the new year with four consecutive road games, the Thunder will return home to Cool Insuring Arena in downtown Glens Falls to take on the Maine Mariners on Wednesday, January 15. Faceoff is at 7 p.m. After the Maine matchup, five of Adirondack’s seven remaining January games will be played at home.

Tickets to all Thunder games are available for purchase at the Cool Insuring Arena Box Office or online at ECHLthunder.com.
