The latest venture from locally owned Ziemann Hospitality Group, Bar Calvin, will occupy a prominent corner location at the Western Avenue entrance, joining Shake Shack, slated to open this August, in transforming one of the Plaza’s most visible spaces into a dynamic new culinary destination.
Bar Calvin is the newest concept from Devin and Kaytrin Ziemann, the husband-and-wife team behind two of the region’s most acclaimed restaurants: Milas Restaurant & Bar, their celebrated Mediterranean concept in Schenectady, and The Nest, their beloved Southern-inspired kitchen, also in Schenectady. Together, the Ziemann Hospitality portfolio has been built on a singular belief: excellence is not an accident. Milas takes you to the sun-drenched shores of the Mediterranean while The Nest wraps you in the warmth of the American South.
Bar Calvin, Ziemann Hospitality Group’s next iteration, brings the energy of a New York City supper club to the Capital Region’s premier lifestyle destination — a sleek, swanky dining room anchored by modern luxury, an upscale cocktail program, and the kind of timeless American fare that defines the best rooms in the city. The couple’s growing portfolio has always carried a deeply personal touch as well: their daughter Mila inspired the name of their Mediterranean restaurant, and Bar Calvin honors their son Calvin.

Chef Devin’s culinary journey comes full circle with Bar Calvin’s arrival at Stuyvesant Plaza. He began his career at Londonderry Café, a beloved Plaza staple for decades before closing in 2013. That early foundation shaped a philosophy that has driven every Ziemann Hospitality concept since: that a great restaurant does not happen by chance. The ingredients, the atmosphere, the hospitality, the details — all of it is deliberate. Returning to Stuyvesant Plaza with his most ambitious concept yet, Chef Devin brings that same intentionality to Bar Calvin, a restaurant designed to feel like stepping into a different world, one inspired by the things people know and love, where the steak is perfect, the martini is colder than it has any right to be, and the room feels alive from the moment you walk in.
