ALBANY, N.Y.  – The holidays arrive in grand fashion Saturday, November 27 to Stuyvesant Plaza – one of the nation’s original outdoor shopping venues. Kicking off the official shopping season on the heels of Black Friday, Stuyvesant Plaza will celebrate Small Business Saturday with complimentary carriage rides, free gourmet hot chocolate, numerous one-day store specials and the exciting launch of a $1000 Shopping Spree contest.

In the spirit of the holidays, old fashioned carriage rides will be available 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. every weekend beginning on Small Business Saturday through December 19. As in previous years, carriage rides will depart in front of Jean Paul Spa & Salons.

“We encourage everyone to visit Stuyvesant Plaza on Small Business Saturday for one-of-a-kind holiday shopping,” said Stuyvesant Plaza Vice President of Real Estate Janet Kaplan. “With the return of free carriage rides and gourmet hot chocolate — something of a holiday tradition for us — we are reminded of all we have to celebrate as we welcome our customers to the Plaza.”

Shoppers can stroll the plaza sidewalks while enjoying the sights and sounds of the season. Complimentary premium hot chocolate will be available courtesy of Saratoga Chocolate Company in front of TA-DA!, while supplies last. The Plaza will boast festive decorations and holiday music throughout the day, and will be the perfect setting for the kick off of a $1000 shopping spree contest.

Sponsored by the Times Union, the contest runs November 27 through December 24. To enter, customers may visit Guest Services, located near Ten Thousand Villages, which is open seven days per week. One grand prize winner will be selected at random and may redeem their prize at up to five Stuyvesant Plaza shops and restaurants. No purchase necessary to enter; limit of one entry per guest.
