STUYVESANT PLAZA DETAILS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES AS CAPITAL REGION RETAILERS REOPEN DOORS

Outdoor shopping plaza features enhanced health and safety measures

ALBANY, N.Y. – June 3, 2020 – Stuyvesant Plaza today announced a series of new safety precautions and social distancing measures in place as the outdoor lifestyle shopping center welcomes the return of shoppers in conjunction with the Phase 2 resumption of retail in the Capital Region.

Beginning today, Stuyvesant Plaza’s retail tenants will open their doors to shoppers for the first time since mid-March, while the Plaza’s restaurants will continue to serve guests with delivery and take-out service. Dine-in service at restaurants will resume with Phase 3 of New York’s reopening guidelines.

“We are thrilled to welcome our shoppers back to Stuyvesant Plaza, which features enhanced health and safety protocols,” said Stuyvesant Plaza President Ed Swyer. “We are engaged in regular conversations with our tenants to share best practices that are informed through recommendations from the New York State Department of Health and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our guests, employees and tenants as we take this next step forward to reopen the Plaza and our community.”

All shoppers at the Plaza are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings and to maintain a 6-foot distancing rule. Common areas will feature additional benches for shoppers to use while waiting to enter stores due to social distancing requirements and store occupancy limits, which are temporarily reduced based on the store’s square footage to ensure safety.

The Plaza has implemented enhanced cleaning protocols and procedures, including regularly wiping down benches, trash cans and high touch areas in the public restrooms and customer service office with increased frequency.

New curbside pickup parking spots will be available to allow for convenient and efficient service from shops and restaurants. Select retailers will also offer private shopping appointments.

Stuyvesant Plaza’s current operating hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Hours and policies for individual tenants will vary during this time. Shoppers should contact each store or restaurant for details. A list of current operating plans for each tenant and their contact information is available at StuyvesantPlaza.com.

Shoppers are encouraged to follow Stuyvesant Plaza on Facebook, Instagram or on Twitter for regular updates.

Stuyvesant Plaza has served as the Capital Region’s premier lifestyle shopping center for more than 60 years.
