MADEWELL TO OPEN FIRST CAPITAL REGION STORE AT STUYVESANT PLAZA

Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier open-air shopping and dining destination, today announced that Madewell, the nationally recognized, denim-centered apparel and accessories brand for women and men, will officially open its doors on Wednesday, September 30, and celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, October 3, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Madewell’s arrival at Stuyvesant Plaza will mark its first-ever Capital Region location. It will fill the former site of The Book House, which relocated to its original home between Sur La Table and Athleta earlier this year.

All guests who attend the opening on September 30 will receive a complimentary Madewell tote bag with any purchase, while supplies last.

Grand opening festivities on October 3 will include complimentary coffee from Stacks Espresso. Shoppers will also enjoy exclusive customized patches, featuring an image of New York State with a star highlighting Albany, that will be sewn on-the spot with the purchase of denim. Denim customization is available to any guest who makes a denim purchase during the event, regardless of whether a member of the Madewell Insider loyalty program.

“As we celebrate the exciting grand opening of Madewell, another first-to-market national brand, we are confident that guests will appreciate its denim trade-in opportunities as well as the array of new denim-focused fashion and accessories,” said Rachel Ferluge, General Manager of Stuyvesant Plaza. “We are thrilled to welcome Madewell and to serve as its inaugural location in the Capital Region.”

Launched in 2006, Madewell blends classic craftsmanship with modern details and unexpected combinations, offering premium denim, apparel, and accessories for women and men. Known for “perfect fits” and lived-in washes, Madewell offers denim staples and everything to wear with them. The brand prioritizes sustainability through responsibly sourced materials, Fair Trade Certified™ products, and circularity programs, including a denim trade-in initiative that has collected and recycled more than 1 million pairs of jeans.

In addition to Madewell, Stuyvesant Plaza is home to a variety of new-to-market retailers, including Anthropologie, Athleta, FP Movement, Kendra Scott, Shake Shack and vineyard vines, while Abercrombie & Fitch, including abercrombie kids, will arrive in 2027.
