MADEWELL TO MAKE CAPITAL REGION DEBUT AT STUYVESANT PLAZA IN 2026

Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier open-air shopping and dining destination, will welcome Madewell in 2026. The nationally recognized, denim-centered apparel and accessories brand for women and men will open its first-ever Capital Region store later this year.

Madewell will fill the former site of The Book House, which relocated to its original home within Stuyvesant Plaza, located between Sur La Table and Athleta.

“The arrival of Madewell adds to our carefully curated mix of national and local retailers,” said Rachel Ferluge, General Manager of Stuyvesant Plaza. “We’re excited to welcome Madewell to the Capital Region and to introduce even more compelling retail experiences for our guests this year.”

Launched in 2006, Madewell blends classic craftsmanship with modern details and unexpected combinations, offering premium denim, apparel, and accessories for women and men. Known for “perfect fits” and lived-in washes, Madewell offers denim staples and everything to wear with them. The brand prioritizes sustainability through responsibly sourced materials, Fair Trade Certified™ products, and circularity programs, including a denim trade-in initiative that has collected and recycled more than 1 million pairs of jeans.

Madewell’s arrival will be part of a continued wave of highly anticipated additions to Stuyvesant Plaza, including the forthcoming openings of Shake Shack and Tempur-Pedic in 2026. In 2025, the Plaza expanded its retail lineup with the additions of Athleta, vineyard vines, Kendra Scott, Rowan, Anthropologie, and FP Movement as permanent staples. That same year, Circles and Peaches Café completed full renovations; BARE Blends relocated to a newly designed space across the Plaza parking lot, and Samantha Nass Floral & Event Design bloomed into a seasonal pop-up floral shop.
