Members of the local community and Dunkin’ fans alike poured into Dunkin’s newly built next generation restaurant at 160 University Avenue in Newark on Thursday, September 10, as part of its grand opening celebration.
Dunkin’ franchisee Paul Narula of the Narula Network commemorated the occasion with a $1,000 donation to the Pierre Toussaint Food Pantry of St. Mary’s Church. Pierre Toussaint Food Pantry has been serving those in need in Newark for nearly a quarter century.
“We are grateful to Paul Narula for this generous donation to benefit our efforts to combat food insecurity in downtown Newark,” said Pierre Toussaint Food Pantry Director Sister Linda Klaiss. “We look forward to using these funds to serve the local community, just as Dunkin’ does by offering amazing products.”
The event featured the first 100 people in line at 9 a.m. receiving a free medium Dunkin’ Refresher for 30 days, while others spun the Dunkin’ prize wheel for free Dunkin’ merchandise.
Members of the Newark City Council; New Jersey State Senator M. Teresa Ruiz; Essex County Commissioner Tyshammie L. Cooper; and members of the Newark Fire Department joined the celebration and participated in a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The newly built, 1,100 square-foot Dunkin’ employs five crew members and is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday.
