Dunkin’ franchisees celebrate upcoming National Dunkin’ Day with donation of 250 pounds of coffee to food bank

SYRACUSE, NY; – Dunkin’ today announced the results of its recent Iced Coffee Day campaign with a donation of $34,000 to Food Bank of Central New York. Dunkin’ franchisees also celebrated the upcoming National Dunkin’ Day by donating nearly 250 pounds of coffee to the food bank.

The donations occurred just days before National Dunkin’ Day, which Dunkin’ will celebrate in Central New York with a special free coffee offer for its loyal guests. On Tuesday, September 29, participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Central New York will celebrate National Dunkin’ Day by offering a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase.

“As we look ahead to National Dunkin’ Day, we are excited to announce the results of our annual Iced Coffee Day program while making this additional coffee donation to an organization so vital to families in need during this unprecedented time,” said Dunkin’ Field Marketing Manager Eric Stensland. “I would like to thank all of our loyal guests who joined us on Iced Coffee Day to help raise these important funds for Food Bank of Central New York.”

During the one-day event on August 26, Dunkin’ franchisees donated $1 from every cup of Iced Coffee sold at participating Dunkin’ restaurants to Food Bank of Central New York. Since its inception in 2012, Iced Coffee Day has now generated more than $220,000 for non-profits in Central New York.

The coffee and monetary donations come at an important time for Food Bank of Central New York, which has been working since the beginning of March to meet the increased demand for emergency food assistance throughout its service area. Between March and August, the Food Bank has distributed more than 13 million pounds of food – a 62 percent increase in comparison to the same months in 2019.

“We are so thankful to Dunkin’ for their support of our work through Iced Coffee Day. This is always a fun day that helps build awareness of the work that we are doing in the communities that we serve,” said Karen Belcher, Executive Director at Food Bank of Central New York. “The funds received from Iced Coffee Day will help provide over 102,000 meals. This year especially, the need is great and their ongoing support ensures that we are able to continue and grow programs that are vital to the fight against hunger in our communities.”

Food Bank of Central New York serves as the primary food supplier to the emergency food network, comprised of 356 partner agencies, within an 11-county service area across Central and Northern New York. The Food Bank distributed more than 20 million pounds of nutritious food during their last fiscal year – the equivalent of 17 million meals – to families, children, and seniors struggling with hunger.
