DUNKIN’ CONTINUES COMMITMENT TO CAPITAL REGION TOYS FOR TOTS WITH $30,000 SHOPPING SPREE

Shopping spree follows collection of nearly 10,000 toys for Capital Region Toys for Tots

ALBANY, NY – Capital Region Dunkin’ franchisees today continued their support for Toys for Tots by purchasing hundreds of toys for children in need during a $30,000 shopping spree at Walmart in Albany.

Made possible by a recent $30,000 donation from Capital Region Dunkin’ franchisees to the Toys for Tots Foundation, the toys purchased during the shopping spree will be distributed to thousands of children and families across the state during a holiday season challenged by the global health pandemic.

This holiday season marks the 12th consecutive year that local Dunkin’ franchisees have provided support for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s signature holiday campaign, bringing the grand total over that span to $350,000 in support of Capital Region Toys for Tots.

“We’re fortunate to have such a dedicated and committed community partner in Dunkin’ and are grateful for the support its franchisees have provided to keep our holiday program going for more than a decade,” said Marine Gunnery Sgt. (Ret) Albert Roman, local coordinator of the Capital Region Toys for Tots campaign. “Their generosity will help bring new toys to thousands of children throughout New York and exemplifies the true spirit of the holiday season.”

“Dunkin’ is thrilled to bring joy to children in need during the holidays by supporting the efforts of the Marines who spearhead the Toys for Tots campaign,” said Eric Stensland, field marketing manager for Dunkin’. “We are honored to be part of this extraordinary effort that has such a vital impact on families in our community.”

In addition to the annual shopping spree, Dunkin’ and Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy recently collected nearly 10,000 toys during a two-part drive-thru collection event on November 7 and 14 at the Albany County Hockey Facility to benefit Capital Region Toys for Tots.

The drive-thru collections were incorporated into this year’s campaign to provide donors with the opportunity to support Capital Region Toys for Tots from the safety of their vehicles. As a special thank you, Dunkin’ provided a gift card and pack of munchkins to each car which donated a new, unwrapped toy.

Capital Region Toys for Tots serves 14 counties across upstate New York, including: Albany, Broome, Clinton, Essex, Fulton, Franklin, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Washington and Warren. The holiday campaign operates annually from October 1 through December 23.

The Marines will work with more than 200 community agencies to distribute toys this holiday season and will be equipped to serve 200,000 children.
