Make-A-Wish Star Donut as a thank you

BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK – Dunkin’ and Make-A-Wish Central New York today announced the continuation of a community initiative designed to help make the wishes of local children come true.

Beginning on Wednesday, April 28, guests who donate $1 to Make-A-Wish at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in the Southern Tier will receive a specially-crafted Make-A-Wish Star Donut, while supplies last. All proceeds will benefit local Make-A-Wish chapters.

Dunkin’ and Make-A-Wish Central New York are kicking off the charitable campaign one day before World Wish Day, which is celebrated on April 29, and is the day the organization was founded. The Star Donut campaign has raised more than $561,000 since 2013.

“Dunkin’ is pleased to continue its support for Make-A-Wish Central New York, a charity that works day-in and day-out to help make the wishes of local children come true,” said Eric Stensland, Field Marketing Manager for Dunkin’. “I encourage the residents of the Southern Tier to enjoy a special treat while supporting an organization that is so important to the children and families in our community.”

The star-shaped specialty donut, which is topped with blue and white icing in honor of Make-A-Wish, is available at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in the Southern Tier through May 9.

“While COVID-19 stopped the world and limited our ability to grant wishes, it didn’t stop children from getting sick,” said Make-A-Wish Central New York President and CEO Diane Kuppermann. “With nearly 200 critically ill children in our 15-county territory waiting for their life-changing wish, the funds and awareness provided by this campaign are now more important than ever. We are profoundly grateful to our friends at Dunkin’ for their continued support and look forward to another successful year.”

Make-A-Wish Central New York creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses throughout a 15-county region of New York State. The organization has granted more than 1,900 wishes since inception in 1985.
