Cardona’s Market – the family-owned Italian specialty foods market and catering company serving the Capital Region since 1945 – is excited to offer its customers a new gluten-free 100% pork meatball just in time to celebrate National Meatball Day on Saturday, March 9.
Served in a roasted and sweet pepper pesto cream sauce, the new offering will be available alongside Cardona’s Famous Traditional and Chicken Meatballs on the hot table for walk-in customers at both the 340 Delaware Ave. location in Albany and 9 Cobbee Road market in Latham.
“We recognize there is a significant portion of the population that either requires or prefers a gluten-free option,” said Cardona’s Market Co-Owner and Executive Chef Robert Cardona Jr. “In celebration of National Meatball Day, our culinary team is excited to announce the introduction of our new gluten-free meatball to meet the dietary needs of all of our guests.”
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from Cardona’s meatball sales on National Meatball Day – all three varieties, hot or cold, or even from the catering menu – will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region.
Cardona’s Market has locations in Albany, Latham and 222 Washington Street in Saratoga Springs. The Albany and Latham markets are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Saratoga Springs location is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All three markets are open on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to the new meatball recipe, Cardona’s is also featuring a St. Patrick’s Day special with pre-orders due by Friday, March 15. For $150, customers can enjoy a menu feeding six to eight people that includes braised short-rib potato croquettes; cucumber vinaigrette salad; corned beef with cabbage, carrots and salt potatoes; house-made Irish soda bread with whipped butter; and six Bailey’s mousse-filled and Bailey’s buttercream frosted cupcakes.
Hot or cold pick-ups are available in Albany and Latham while Saratoga will have cold pick-ups only. All pick-ups are available Saturday, March 16th through Sunday, March 17.
