ADIRONDACK SPORTS & NORTHEAST SKI EXPO TO EXPAND SHOW AND FEATURE HUGE DEALS ON OUTDOOR SPORTS GEAR

Newly rebranded event to include all winter sports and feature free admission

Albany, NY, – The Adirondack Sports & Northeast Ski Expo, formerly the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase, is set to return under new ownership on Saturday, Nov. 5 and Sunday, Nov. 6 at the Albany Capital Center. Admission is free for the two-day event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

One of the ski industry’s original and most popular winter sports shows, which appeals to novice and advanced athletes alike, will return following a Covid-driven, two-year hiatus and its recent sale to Darryl and Mona Caron of Adirondack Sports and Fitness.

As many as 100 exhibitors — including the World University Games (to be conducted in Lake Placid in January 2023) and Kingston-based Potter Brothers Ski & Snowboard Shops — are expected to fill the Albany Capital Center, which has been home to the show since the venue first opened in 2017. Among the notable downhill and cross-country ski resorts, ski clubs and retail exhibitors scheduled to participate include:

  • Killington & Pico Ski Resorts
  • Big Bobble Hats (handmade hats)
  • Brookhaven Winter Park
  • Capital Area Ski Touring Association
  • Catamount Mountain Resort
  • Dion & NeviTREK Snowshoes
  • Gore Mountain Ski Resort
  • Human Power Planet Earth (Nordic kick sleds and ice skates)
  • Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort
  • Lapland Lake Resort & XC Ski Center
  • Out of Control Ski Club
  • Schenectady Wintersports Club
  • Smugglers’ Notch Resort
  • West Mountain Ski Area
  • Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort

The inaugural Adirondack Sports & Northeast Ski Expo will include all winter sports and year-round outdoor sports, plus health, fitness and travel. The expo will incorporate new ski and snowboard gear, outerwear and accessories at great prices, expanded alpine and cross-country ski resorts, clubs, destinations, events and family activities.

“We feel privileged to continue this 58-year tradition. Assuming ownership of this show was a natural fit for us and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Darryl Caron, Expo manager and publisher of Adirondack Sports Magazine. “After managing the Adirondack Sports Summer Expo in Saratoga Springs for the past 17 years, we will now be able to more seamlessly cover outdoor sports year-round with the addition of this well-established winter Expo.”

The Adirondack Sports & Northeast Ski Expo will be free for guests to attend, and will have $10,000 in prizes including lift tickets, trail/season passes, gift certificates, ski/binding packages, snowshoes, lodging packages, and much more. There will be lunch and drink options with sandwiches, soups, salads, and kid-friendly items.

Dating back to the 1960s, the Albany Ski Show later evolved into the Albany Ski & Snowboard Expo before expanding to the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase. This year’s newly rebranded event has added cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and all winter sports to its roster, and expanded activities to include an indoor curling game for kids and indoor rowing.

Adirondack Sports & Fitness publishes Adirondack Sports magazine and produces Adirondack Sports expos covering outdoor sports, fitness and travel in the Capital-Saratoga Region, Adirondacks, Hudson Valley and Catskills.

Since 2000, Adirondack Sports magazine has covered popular aerobic sports and recreation, including running, biking, hiking, paddling, triathlon, skiing, health, fitness and travel. Adirondack Sports distributes 20,000 free monthly copies at over 600 locations and is available online at www.adksports.com.

“This show will be upbeat, high energy and lots of fun,” Caron said. “Free admission entitles every participant to a chance at thousands of dollars in prizes. Our number one goal is to get people interested in outdoor activities for every season. When you have the right clothing and gear you can stay active and enjoy it all.”

Parking for the Expo is free at the Albany Capital Center, and next door at the MVP Arena, courtesy of The Albany Auto Show concurrently hosting its own show the same weekend.
