Women’s Basketball’s 23rd Annual Pink Zone Game Set for February 1

Siena Women’s Basketball is excited to continue a longstanding tradition by holding its 23rd Annual “Pink Zone” game presented by Albany Medical Health Systems on Thursday, February 1 when the Saints battle MAAC rival Manhattan at the UHY Center at 7 PM. The event, which has grossed over $200,000 towards local Capital Region breast cancer survivors since its inception, will once again benefit The Donna Foundation.

The event will feature in-person recognition of breast cancer survivors and those thriving prior to the start of the game, in what has become a meaningful team tradition carried on for over two decades. There will also be a recognition of local doctors from Albany Medical Health Systems at halftime. The team will hold a fundraiser to raise money for breast cancer support and awareness, with donations collected by visiting SienaSaints.com/PinkZoneDonate. In the weeks leading up to the game, members of the women’s basketball team will visit with and hear the stories of the survivor and thriving honorees.

If you know someone who is currently battling breast cancer or is a breast cancer survivor who you would like to recognize, please reach out to Siena Women’s Basketball director of operations Morgan Roche at [email protected] by Monday, January 29.

Tickets for the 2024 Pink Zone Game are now on sale at SienaSaints.com/PinkZoneTickets. Individual adult tickets are $10 for a chairback seat and $8 for general admission, while children 12 and under are $5. Game attendees are encouraged to wear pink – breast cancer’s signature color – in an effort to “Pink Out the UHY.” Donations for The Donna Foundation will be collected and Pink Zone t-shirts will be sold at the game for a cash-only price of $10, with proceeds benefiting The Donna Foundation. There will also be a 50/50 raffle for the foundation and a raffle for a special jewelry item, generously provided by Hannoush Jewelers.

Established by former head coach Gina Castelli and late Siena College biology professor Dr. Pat Brown two decades ago, the Siena Women’s Basketball Pink Zone Game has grown into an annual celebration of the courageous battles fought by local breast cancer survivors, while also raising awareness and money for local organizations to provide survivors with the vital services that they need.

This marks the second year that Siena Women’s Basketball will partner with The Donna Foundation, a Jacksonville, Florida-based organization whose mission is to provide financial assistance and support to those living with breast cancer and fund ground-breaking breast cancer research. Proceeds from this year’s game will support The Donna Foundation’s awareness, education, and research programs.
