Tri-City ValleyCats and Hannaford Supermarkets team up for 5th annual “Show on the Road!”

TROY – The Tri-City ValleyCats and Hannaford Supermarkets have teamed up to host the 5th Annual “Show on the Road” at a Capital Region youth softball game, featuring Classie Lassies Girls Softball. The event will take place at their complex, located at 1 Alden Way in Wynantskill, on Saturday, June 10.

Festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m., and will feature a family day atmosphere with events that include a pregame picnic, as well as entertaining promotions throughout the showcased league game.

The ValleyCats and Hannaford recognize the important role that youth sports play in leading a healthy lifestyle, developing skills for the future, having fun and learning about sportsmanship, and this event is a way to reward local youth leagues for their commitment to these initiatives.

“The Classie Lassies do a great job teaching young ballplayers the right way to play the game, emphasizing the importance of good sportsmanship and community. We are thrilled to continue this partnership with Hannaford and look forward to bringing our Show on the Road again this year,” said Matt Callahan, ValleyCats General Manager. “It is going to be a great day and a fun environment as we feature some the same great entertainment you find at The Joe.”

“Hannaford has a strong tradition of supporting many deserving and worthwhile community organizations, and is especially proud to support those that engage our youth in promoting healthy and active lifestyles,” said Brian Fabre, Hannaford Supermarkets Community Relations Specialist. “We are grateful that our associates and our customers recognize the importance of our involvement in activities such as this.”

This year’s ‘Show on the Road’ will feature pregame entertainment, ceremonial team introductions, a live performance of the national anthem, and in-game promotions such as fan favorites like the mayors’ race, t-shirt tosses, pony hops and more.

“On behalf of myself and the entire Classie Lassies organization, we are beyond thrilled to be chosen as the first softball league for the ‘Show on the Road’ program,” said league President Richard Backaus. “We look forward to a fun and exciting day and are very grateful to the ValleyCats and Hannaford for this opportunity.”

The ‘Show on the Road’ will also be celebrated on Softball Night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Wednesday, July 5 as the ValleyCats take on the Brooklyn Cyclones, minor league affiliate of the New York Mets. For ticket information, log-on to www.tcvalleycats.com, or call 518-629-CATS.
