TWO PROMINENT LOCAL BUSINESSES COMING SOON TO STUYVESANT PLAZA

Two Capital Region small businesses — fast-casual, modern Mediterranean restaurant Simone’s Kitchen and men’s boutique clothing retailer Union Hall Supply Co. — will open their doors at Stuyvesant Plaza this summer. The arrival of these two local businesses at Stuyvesant Plaza marks the launch of a third area restaurant by Simone’s Kitchen and the second brick-and-mortar shop for Union Hall Supply Co.

This comes on the heels of a 15-month span of announcements made by Stuyvesant Plaza, including the opening of 5th Corner Goods & Gifts, a pop-up shop originally designed to operate for a limited time during the holiday shopping season. The local women-owned small business is now welcoming Plaza guests through the remainder of 2024.

“Following the successful holiday debut of 5th Corner Goods & Gifts, the eco-friendly gift store will remain at the Plaza through the end of the year,” said Stuyvesant Plaza General Manager Rachel Ferluge. “We can’t wait to watch their team continue to flourish here.”

Other announcements included the opening of community café Uncommon Grounds; renewing the leases of local favorites Pearl Grant Richmans, Lola Saratoga and Peaches Café; and recruiting major national retailers Sur La Table and Warby Parker.

Both Union Hall Supply Co. and Simone’s Kitchen will open their doors on the south side of Stuyvesant Plaza, adjacent to Felthousen’s Florist.

“We are thrilled to announce that Simone’s Kitchen and Union Hall Supply Co., two incredible local businesses, will open at Stuyvesant Plaza later this year,” said Ferluge. “Simone’s is a Capital Region favorite, known for its outstanding menu of Mediterranean dishes, and Saratoga Springs-based Union Hall is renowned for its style and selection of casual men’s attire.  We’re so excited to add to our list of beloved local businesses with two new offerings, which will continue to expand upon our diverse mix of retail and restaurants.”

Simone’s Kitchen, named after co-owner Bashir Chedrawee’s mother, launched in 2018 as a small restaurant in Coxsackie serving Mediterranean-style food. Chedrawee and his business partners opened a second restaurant in Schenectady in August 2022 and recently reopened their Coxsackie location after an extensive renovation last year. Their menu consists of mezza bowls, bakery items and Greek frozen yogurts.

“With its wide-ranging variety of restaurants and eateries, Stuyvesant Plaza is the perfect setting for us to open our newest location,” said Chedrawee. “Our menu draws inspiration from all over the mediterranean — a Mediterranean Fusion — and is made with wholesome ingredients thoughtfully combined to create meals that are bursting with flavors! We can’t wait to bring those big flavors to Stuyvesant Plaza.”

Union Hall Supply Co. sells a curated selection of modern clothing, shoes, and accessories for men. The boutique’s flagship location opened in July 2019 on Broadway in Saratoga Springs and is owned by proprietor Heidi Owen West, who also operates two womenswear shops in downtown Saratoga: Lifestyles and Caroline & Main. Union Hall Supply Co.’s Stuyvesant Plaza location will be West’s fourth clothing store, and her first storefront outside of Saratoga Springs.

“Stuyvesant Plaza is the ideal home to complement my flagship stores in Saratoga Springs and, much like downtown Saratoga, is a popular and highly desirable shopping destination,” said West. “We’re looking forward to joining the Plaza’s incredible collection of retail shops and restaurants and to introduce the Union Hall experience to a new and expanded audience.”
