Iconic Capital Region outdoor lifestyle shopping center receives top honor in retail category of annual property management awards

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) has named Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier lifestyle shopping center, as the 2014 recipient of The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) award winner in the retail category for the Middle Atlantic Region.

The TOBY award, which is renowned as one of the most prestigious and comprehensive awards in the real estate industry, recognizes Stuyvesant Plaza for excellence in building management, operational efficiency, tenant retention, emergency planning and community impact.

Officials from Stuyvesant Plaza accepted the TOBY award at the annual BOMA Middle Atlantic Region Conference in Stamford, CT on Friday, May 1. Stuyvesant Plaza competed against buildings in the retail category from 16 BOMA local chapters in the 11 states comprising the Middle Atlantic Region.

“Stuyvesant Plaza has been the signature shopping destination for Capital Region residents for over 55 years. We remain dedicated to providing our guests with an outstanding atmosphere comprised of a unique combination of one-of-a-kind local shops, nationally-recognized retailers and top-class restaurants and services,” said Ed Swyer, president of Stuyvesant Plaza. “We are honored to be recognized by BOMA as an industry leader and look forward to continuing to advance the retail experience for shoppers.”

Stuyvesant Plaza was nominated for the Middle Atlantic Region TOBY award after winning the retail category in the Capital Region BOMA division. Winners of the Middle Atlantic Region TOBY award will move onto the BOMA International TOBY competition at the 2015 Every Building Conference and Expo in Los Angeles, CA in June.
