Culinary retailer will open its first Capital Region location on July 22 with official baguette-breaking ceremony and open house

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Leading kitchen and culinary retailer Sur La Table celebrated the grand opening of its first Capital Region location at Stuyvesant Plaza on Saturday, July 22. In lieu of the customary ribbon cutting, representatives debuted the space by breaking an oversized baguette specially baked by neighboring Plaza restaurateur Bountiful Bread.

The day’s events will feature special in-store giveaways, sweepstakes and tastings, including coffee sampling from Stuyvesant Plaza’s Uncommon Grounds. The first 150 customers will receive a Sur La Table towel set with purchase of $100 or more. Guests will also have the opportunity to win a free cooking class for two, valued at $180, by engaging with Sur La Table’s social media channels.

“We are thrilled to open our doors to Capital Region guests at this spectacular Stuyvesant Plaza storefront,” said Sur La Table CEO Jordan Voloshin. “We couldn’t dream of a better environment for our first shop in upstate New York. With an exciting mix of local and national retailers and restaurants, we look forward to collaborating with our neighbors and being a resource to the community.”

Since debuting its first shop at Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market in 1972, Sur La Table has become an experiential destination for those passionate about cooking and entertaining. The retailer specializes in sales of quality kitchenware, while offering a robust cooking-class program and frequent in-store events and demonstrations at locations in more than 20 states nationwide.“Stuyvesant Plaza is excited to welcome Sur La Table,” said Stuyvesant Plaza General Manager Rachel Ferluge. “With more than 50 years of history, an incredible product selection and a strong focus on events and education, Sur La Table is a gathering place for chefs of all levels to learn from experts and each other.
