ALBANY, N.Y. – Players and coaches from the Siena men’s basketball team today brought holiday cheer to the children and families staying at the Albany Ronald McDonald House during a special visit.

During the visit, the Saints signed basketballs for the children and handed out various Siena memorabilia and collectible items.

“We are fortunate to have been given this wonderful opportunity to bring joy to children and young adults at the Albany Ronald McDonald House during the holiday season,” said Siena Men’s Basketball Coach Jamion Christian. “These young people display remarkable courage, persistence and determination while battling health complications. The Siena Men’s Basketball team is honored to have been invited to spend some time with these young heroes in our community.”

The men’s basketball team also took an extensive tour of the Albany Ronald McDonald House during the visit to learn about the services that are provided to the young residents while receiving treatment at Albany Medical Center.

“We deeply appreciate the support of the Siena College Athletic Department leadership, their staff, coaches and especially the student athletes,” said Albany Ronald McDonald House Executive Director Jeff Yule. “Each year, Siena athletes visit our Ronald McDonald House to prepare dinner for our families and spend time with the kids who call the Ronald McDonald House their home away from home. These visits remind our guests that they are not alone in their battle and they speak volumes about the culture that exists at Siena College. We have many fond memories of previous visits by the men’s basketball team and look forward to showing the new coach and several new players around the House.”

The Albany Ronald McDonald House will be the designated Siena Basketball non-profit of the game later this season when the Saints host Marist College at the Times Union Center on Sunday, February 24.

Representatives from the Albany Ronald McDonald House will be recognized during a special on court ceremony and will also collect donations on the concourse throughout the game.

The Siena men’s basketball team will be home for the holidays to host the College of Charleston at the Times Union Center on Tuesday, December 18 at 7 p.m. and Cal Poly on Saturday, December 29 at 2 p.m.
