Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier open-air retail destination, will host the grand opening of Shake Shack, the iconic fast casual restaurant featuring burgers, chicken, hand-spun shakes and more, on Wednesday, August 5 at 10 a.m. The celebration will get underway with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m.
Shake Shack’s arrival at Stuyvesant Plaza will mark its first year-round, full-scale Capital Region location. Located on the property’s prominent corner building just inside the Western Avenue entrance of the Plaza, the grand opening celebration will include the gifting of Shake Shack tote bags for the first wave of guests.
“It’s no secret that the impending opening of Shake Shack has generated widespread excitement,” said Stuyvesant Plaza General Manager Rachel Ferluge. “Shake Shack’s irresistible menu of classic burgers, hot dogs, Crinkle Cut fries, frozen custards and hand-spun milkshakes has made this grand opening celebration one of the most anticipated in recent memory.”
Shake Shack will celebrate its arrival by donating $1 from every sandwich sold on Opening Day to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Located in nearby Latham, the Regional Food Bank distributes food to nearly 1,000 charitable agencies feeding the hungry across 23 counties in Northeastern New York.
Internationally renowned for its made-to-order 100% Angus beef burgers, crispy chicken and Crinkle Cut fries, Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart more than two decades ago in New York City’s Madison Square Park with a mission to raise funds for a public art project.
