SARATOGA JOCKEY COLONY PARTICIPATES IN ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE TO RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR ALS ASSOCIATION

Saratoga Ice Bucket Challenge 2: The New York Racing Association made a $1,000 donation to the ALS Association following the participation of members of the Saratoga jockey colony in the Ice Bucket Challenge at Saratoga Race Course on Friday, August 15. Developed to spread awareness and raise funds for ALS, the social media trend known as the Ice Bucket Challenge involves people dousing themselves with buckets of ice water and posting video of the occurrence on social media. The individual then challenges others to do the same and/or donate to the ALS Association. Challenges were issued to a numerous members of the Saratoga racing community, including trainers Rudy Rodriguez, Graham Motion, Bruce Brown, Jeremiah Englehart, Rick Violette, Linda Rice, Bruce Levine, Todd Pletcher, Chad Brown and Michael Hushion; owner Roddy Valente; New York Racing Association peace officer Pito Rosa; and NYRA TV analyst Andy Serling.
