SARATOGA HERITAGE DAY; WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. will celebrate the history and culture of the Spa during Saratoga Heritage Day at Saratoga Race Course on Wednesday, August 27. The event is the sixth and final installment in the inaugural International Heritage Series, a weekly celebration of global culture and heritage during the 2014 summer meet.

The day-long festivities will feature music, dance, entertainment and food intrinsic to Saratoga Springs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Saratoga Pavilion located inside the Reserved Seats Box Office entrance.

The New York Racing Association will welcome City of Saratoga Springs Mayor Joanne Yepsen and local community stakeholders to unveil the official logo for the upcoming Saratoga Springs Centennial Celebration in the winner’s circle following a race in the afternoon. The city-wide Saratoga Centennial Celebration will take place in 2015.

Singers from Saratoga Soundtrack will greet arriving guests at the grandstand and clubhouse entrances before performing trackside at 12:40 p.m.

Saratoga Soundtrack and Saratoga Theater also will perform at the Pavilion and bandstand throughout the day.

The Saratoga Auto Museum will have cars on display at the Clubhouse entrance and the Saratoga Pavilion throughout the afternoon.

Various local organizations will be represented on track during the day, including the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame; Saratoga National Historic Park; Friends of Saratoga Battlefield; The Children’s Museum at Saratoga; Saratoga Springs History Museum; Saratoga Auto Museum; Saratoga History Tours; and the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation.

Food samples will be available from several Saratoga-based restaurants and companies, including Hattie’s, Saratoga Garlic, Sundaes Best and Saratoga Sweets.
