NORTHEASTERN FINE JEWELRY TO LAUNCH ‘NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR’ PROGRAM DURING CORONAVIRUS CRISIS

Family-owned jeweler to support independent restaurants through innovative gift card program

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Northeastern Fine Jewelry will support its fellow small businesses with an innovative gift card program designed to generate much-needed funds for local restaurants in light of mandatory closures due to the coronavirus global health pandemic.

With every purchase of a $50 Northeastern Fine Jewelry gift card, the local, family-owned jeweler will donate $20 to independent restaurants in the Capital Region. For example, if a customer were to purchase three gifts cards, Northeastern Fine Jewelry will donate $60 to support local restaurants as part of its “neighbor helping neighbor” program.

In honor of its three store locations, Northeastern Fine Jewelry selected three restaurants from each community where the jeweler operates to benefit from the program, including:

Northeastern Fine Jewelry gift cards are available for purchase online at nefj.com/neighbors-helping-neighbors. Gift cards will be delivered at no charge (fees apply for expedited shipping).

“We hope this program will inspire neighborhood businesses – with the help of the community – to band together during these difficult times. Perhaps it may spur others to come up with creative ways to support their local shops and restaurants,” said Northeastern Fine Jewelry President Ray Bleser. “We know that despite the ongoing crisis, celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries and other personal milestones continue. By purchasing a gift card, you can still mark that special occasion while supporting the restaurant community.”

“The phrase ‘we’re all in this together’ means more now than ever before. While we anticipate aid for small businesses from the federal and state governments, Northeastern Fine Jewelry is leading the way in demonstrating that assistance can begin from the ground up,” said Capital Region Chamber President and CEO Mark Eagan. “We applaud Northeastern Fine Jewelry for its creative approach to show how businesses, in collaboration with their customers, can work to support one another during this critical time.”

Northeastern Fine Jewelry’s three store locations at 1575 Western Avenue in Albany; 1607 Union Street in Schenectady; and 167 Glen Street in Glens Falls are currently closed in accordance with the New York State mandate for non-essential businesses designed to help preclude the spread of the coronavirus.
