HANNAFORD TO BUILD STORE IN ROME, NY

The location at Turin and West Chestnut streets will offer the Hannaford To Go grocery pickup service, a drive-through pharmacy and many other conveniences

Rome, New York — Hannaford Supermarkets today announced plans to build a store at the intersection of West Chestnut Street and Turin Street (Rt. 26N). The multi-million-dollar project will bring about 150 jobs to the community and provide customers with a new, convenient location to shop.

The 49,000-square-foot Rome Hannaford Supermarket & Pharmacy will provide the great fresh food and variety for which Hannaford is known, including thousands of natural and organic products, as well as unique store-brand offerings such as Taste of Inspirations, Hannaford and Nature’s Place.

The supermarket also will offer a full-service pharmacy, with drive-through; Hannaford To Go, a service that allows customers to select items online and pick up their orders at the store; in-store café; and a huge selection of ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat items.

Rome is the second new-store announcement Hannaford has made in New York within the past four months.  In July, Hannaford filed plans to build a store in Ballston. When both stores are open, the company will have 51 stores in New York.

“Hannaford is investing in upstate New York because we believe in the area’s future,” said Eric Blom, company spokesman. “We are confident that our New York customers will appreciate the added convenience of this location, where they will find everyday low prices, exceptional fresh products and a sustained commitment to the local community.”

Hannaford also offers My Hannaford Rewards, a program that allows users to earn a 2 percent reward on all private brand purchases and receive personalized coupons.  This is in addition to the supermarkets’ everyday low prices, which remain available to all customers.

“The new store will be an active member of the Rome community, contributing to local nonprofit organizations, civic groups and hunger-relief efforts,” Blom said. Last year, Hannaford donated more than 23 million pounds of rescued food to help feed hungry individuals in the cities and towns it serves.
