HANNAFORD SUPERMARKETS TO SPONSOR 51ST ANNUAL VERMONT MAPLE FESTIVAL

Saint Albans, Vt. – For the 11th consecutive year, Hannaford Supermarkets will help support one of the Green Mountain State’s premier events – the 51st annual Vermont Maple Festival. The three-day event will take place Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30 in St. Albans, Vt.

Named one of the top ten summer events by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the annual festival attracts approximately 40,000 people to downtown St. Albans to celebrate the culmination of the maple sugaring season.

As underwriter of the Main Street Stage, Hannaford Supermarkets will help to bring a number of local and regional entertainers to the Vermont Maple Festival, including country bands, magicians, classical ensembles, rock bands, storytellers, choruses, dancers, puppeteers and much more. Entertainment on the Main Street Stage is free for all guests throughout the three-day festival.

“Hannaford is proud to partner with one of the sweetest traditions and most popular festivals in Vermont,” said Hannaford Supermarkets Community Relations Specialist Brian Fabre. “Hannaford is strongly committed to local food producers and sourcing local products and we are thrilled to help promote one of Vermont’s premier industries and tourist attractions.”

The Maple Festival will be highlighted by the Maple Cooking Contest, where the best cooks and bakers in the region will compete in a number of categories including cakes, pies, breads and preserves, sauces and dressings. Adult and youth categories will be available for entry. Winners will be announced at the Vermont Maple BBQ Dinner on Saturday, April 29.

Additional highlights of the festival include sugarhouse tours, craft and antique shows, family carnivals and entertainment, pancake breakfasts, specialty food exhibits and the annual grand parade.

Sunday marks the 38th anniversary of the annual Sap Run – an 8.5-mile course along Route 7 before crossing the finish line in downtown St. Albans. The Sap Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. in downtown Swanton. Winners will receive maple syrup-themed prizes. All proceeds from race entry fees will benefit the St. Albans Recreation Commission.
