As a continuation of the partnership established at the recent grand-reopening celebration of its restaurant at 1128 Duanesburg Road in Rotterdam, Dunkin’ will host a special one-day new clothing drive for Things of My Very Own.
Schalmont High School student volunteers will be collecting clothing on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dunkin’ located at 1128 Duanesburg Road in Rotterdam. For this donation drive only, the first 50 guests to donate an article of new clothing will receive a $10 Dunkin’ gift card.
Dunkin’ franchisees Natasha, Nicole and Miguel Teixeira previously donated $3,000 to Things of My Very Own in conjunction with the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, commemorating the official reopening of the newly remodeled Rotterdam location on Nov. 29. The clothing drive is an extension of their initiative to support the local organization.
“We are happy to take our donation a step further by asking our wonderful guests to participate in the clothing drive,” said Natasha Teixeira. “This is our way to help children in need in our community, and to give them a piece of home and warmth during the holiday season.”
For this donation drive only, Things of My Very Own is asking for new clothing for boys and girls from preemie to size 18. However, all clothing sizes are welcome.
“We are proud that Dunkin’ has recognized the ongoing needs of children in crisis in our area,” said Things of My Very Own Founder Rayn Boncie. “More than that, our local franchisees have committed themselves to changing the world around them, one child at a time. Things of My Very Own is a local nonprofit organization based in Schenectady that provides crisis intervention services to children impacted by extensive abuse or neglect, or children at-risk of a Child Protective Services intervention.
