Dunkin’ restaurant in Union celebrates grand reopening with donation to Community FoodBank of New Jersey

Members of the local community and Dunkin’ fans alike poured into Dunkin’s newly remodeled next generation restaurant at 1401 Morris Avenue in the Township of Union on Friday, October 17 as part of its grand reopening celebration.

Dunkin’ franchisee Nick D’Amore of NATC Donuts, Inc. commemorated the occasion with a $3,000 donation to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, in conjunction with the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is a registered nonprofit dedicated to helping over 500,000 residents fight food insecurity in New Jersey.

“Now more than ever, donations like this one from Nick D’Amore and the Dunkin Joy in Childhood Foundation are critical, as food insecurity in New Jersey has increased by 65 percent since the height of the pandemic,” said Community FoodBank of New Jersey CEO Elizabeth McCarthy. “More and more of our neighbors are struggling to feed their families. Support from the community helps us feed New Jerseyans in need, including in the local Union area”.

The afternoon featured the first 100 people in line at 9 a.m. receiving a free medium hot or iced coffee for 100 days, while others spun the Dunkin’ prize wheel for free Dunkin’ merchandise, and enjoyed a complimentary Dunkin’ photobooth.

Union Township Deputy Mayor Joseph Florio; Union Township Committeeman Manuel Figueiredo; Union Fire Department Chief Greg Ricciardi; and members of the Union Township Police Department joined the celebration and participated in a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The newly remodeled, 1,700 square-foot Dunkin’ employs 18 crew members and is open Monday to Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 8 p.m.
