Members of the local community and Dunkin’ fans alike poured into Dunkin’s newly built next generation restaurant, an exclusive drive-thru location, at 420 North Wantagh Ave. in Bethpage on Friday, May 1, as part of its grand opening celebration.
Dunkin’ franchisee Great Neck Donuts commemorated the occasion with a $1,000 donation to Toys for Tots. Created by the United States Marine Corps in 1991, the mission of Toys for Tots is to collect and distribute new unwrapped toys to economically disadvantaged children during the holiday season.
The event featured the first 100 people in line at 9 a.m. receiving a free medium Dunkin’ Refresher for 30 days, while others spun the Dunkin’ prize wheel for free Dunkin’ merchandise. The morning also featured an appearance by 103.1 FM The Wolf, with guests winning tickets to concerts and sporting events.
Hempstead Town Councilman Dennis Dunne Sr.; Hempstead Town Clerk Kate Murray; Oyster Bay Town Councilman Thomas Hand; Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Vicki Walsh; Nassau County District Legislator Thomas McKevitt; Police officers from the Nassau County 8th Precinct; Members of the Bethpage Fire Department; and representatives on behalf of the offices of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman; New York State Assemblyman John Mikulin; and New York State Senator Steven Rhoads joined the celebration and participated in a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The newly built, 1,100 square-foot Dunkin’ employs 15 crew members and is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
