Donation is in celebration of the brand’s unique 66-year coffee heritage and culmination of season-long partnership with the Syracuse Chiefs
SYRACUSE, NY; – Dunkin’ Donuts today celebrated National Coffee Day in Central New York by announcing a donation of 266 pounds of coffee to Food Bank of Central New York in partnership with the Syracuse Chiefs. Dunkin’ Donuts also celebrated the brand’s heritage, dating back to 1950, by offering guests in Central New York a medium cup of its signature coffee for the special price of 66 cents.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate National Coffee Day in Central New York by announcing a donation of 266 pounds of coffee to Food Bank of Central New York,” said Dunkin’ Donuts Field Marketing Manager Eric Stensland. “I’d like to thank our partners at the Syracuse Chiefs for joining us in this initiative to support such a wonderful organization in our community.”
The “Runs for Coffee” initiative is one element of season-long partnership between Dunkin’ Donuts and the Syracuse Chiefs. At the beginning of the 2016 season, Dunkin’ Donuts pledged to donate of one pound of coffee to Food Bank of Central New York for every run scored by the Syracuse Chiefs during their home games.
“This partnership provides a great opportunity for us to assist Food Bank of Central New York as they work towards eliminating hunger in our community,” said Syracuse Chiefs General Manager Jason Smorol. “This is one of the many ways local residents and fans have benefited from the Chiefs’ partnership with Dunkin’ Donuts.”
“Coffee is a staple in many households across our service area so it is rewarding to be able to provide this delicious beverage to the individuals and families we serve,” said Food Bank of Central New York Executive Director Kathleen Stress. “Thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts and the Syracuse Chiefs for hitting it out of the ballpark with this donation.”
Food Bank of Central New York, located in Syracuse, is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education, and advocacy in cooperation with the community. It partners with 252 emergency food programs in Central New York and the 11 surrounding counties. Food Bank of Central New York works with a diverse group of partner agencies including soup kitchens, food pantries, and emergency shelters, as well as child-care agencies and senior centers.
Dunkin’ Donuts also helped fans both show and share their love of coffee by offering a one-day only Snapchat Geofilter on National Coffee Day. The fun design that celebrated the day, could be unlocked at any of Dunkin’ Donuts’ U.S. locations.
