DUNKIN’ DONUTS ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF “CUPS FOR ROSWELL” AND THE DONATION OF UP TO 372,000 CUPS OF COFFEE TO ROSWELL PARK CANCER INSTITUTE

Partnership designed to generate $175,000 in support of Roswell Park Cancer Institute

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Dunkin’ Donuts today announced the start of the “Cups for Roswell” program and the donation of up to 372,000 cups of coffee to Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in an effort to generate $175,000 for the nationally-recognized comprehensive cancer center this holiday season.

The first 1,000 Western New York residents to make a $175 donation to RPCI will receive a 12 pack of coupon books for “coffee for a year” as a thank you from Dunkin’ Donuts and its Buffalo-area franchisees. The “Cups for Roswell” coupon books are available in advance of the holiday season and make great stocking stuffers individually, or split up and allocated to family and friends.

The program is one element of a five-year partnership designed to generate $1 million to support Phase II of construction on RPCI’s new Clinical Sciences Center and provide seed funding to RPCI scientists and clinicians for scientific research projects showing the greatest potential to save lives.

“Dunkin’ Donuts is thrilled to continue our outstanding partnership with Roswell Park Cancer Institute to support its critical work,” said Alisa LaPlante, Dunkin’ Donuts Field Marketing Manager. “The ‘Cups for Roswell’ coupon books not only offer Dunkin’ Donuts guests a tremendous value, but are also a great way to support an important organization so vital to our community. Dunkin’ Donuts is grateful for the support of its Buffalo-area franchisees and gives special thanks to franchisee Tim Cloe, who operates the majority of the 45 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in the greater Buffalo area, for his leadership and stewardship of this fundraising initiative.”

The “coffee for a year” package contains 12 coupon books. Each of the individual books contains 31 vouchers for a free medium (14 oz.) hot or (24 oz.) iced coffee or (14 oz.) hot tea – for a total of 372 vouchers that can be redeemed at any Buffalo-area Dunkin’ Donuts, including 60 coupons that can be redeemed the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in the lobby of the RPCI. The “Cups for Roswell” coupon books are available at the RPCI Gift Shop in the hospital lobby or online at www.cupsforroswell.com (Limited availability; See coupons for expiration dates).

The fundraising initiative provides RPCI with the opportunity to generate monetary donations through its sale of “Cups for Roswell” coffee coupon books generously donated by Dunkin’ Donuts. The goal is to raise $750,000 through the sale of the coupon books over five years. Additionally, Dunkin’ Donuts will supplement the partnership with product donations to support various fundraising events and activities organized by RPCI, anticipated to have an estimated retail value of $250,000.

The majority of the funds raised will support completion of RPCI’s new Clinical Sciences Center. RPCI raised $40 million in Phase I of the campaign to support the building of the Center and construction for Phase I has begun.  Dunkin’ Donuts’ contribution supports Phase II of the campaign, which will fund the completion of the top floors. Among the expansion highlights that the state-of-the art facility will feature are:

  • Breast Center
  • Expanded Mammography Center with the capacity to conduct 10,000 additional screening mammograms annually
  • New Chemo-Infusion Clinic
  • Adolescent and Young Adult Clinic
  • Patient Education and Survivorship Programs to reach patients, caregivers and family members
  • State-of-the-art office facilities and space for clinician-scientists to analyze data from clinical studies

The new expanded Chemotherapy Clinic at the Center will be double the capacity of the current Chemo Clinic, while also offering patients a picturesque view of Buffalo’s skyline.  The Breast Center will, for the first time, offer the community screening mammography services, and the Patient Education/Survivorship Center will be an added service for Roswell Park’s 31,000 patients and their families.  The facility will also provide new office space for clinicians and translational researchers in close proximity to their clinics and laboratories.

Funds raised through the sale of “Cups for Roswell” coffee coupon books will also support two scientific research grants a year for the next five years. These grants will provide seed funding for cancer research projects carried out by RPCI researchers. RPCI has more than 200 researchers on staff and Dunkin’ Donuts’ generosity will help raise funds to support the early stages of research that eventually may lead to new clinical trials, drugs and improved therapies.
