SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Dunkin’ and Make-A-Wish Central New York today celebrated more than a decade of partnership as they kicked off their annual Make-A-Wish Star Donut campaign. This year is the 11th anniversary of the initiative, which symbolizes the continuation of a community program designed to help make the wishes of local children come true.

Beginning on Friday, September 1, guests who donate $1 to Make-A-Wish at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Central New York will receive a free specially-crafted Make-A-Wish Star Donut, while supplies last. All proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish Central New York. The campaign has raised nearly $750,000 since its inception in 2013.

“Dunkin’ is pleased to celebrate more than a decade of support for Make-A-Wish Central New York, a charity that works day-in and day-out to help make the wishes of local children come true,” said Central New York Dunkin’ Franchisee Tom Santurri. “I encourage the residents of Central New York to enjoy a special treat while supporting an organization that is so important to the children and families in our community.”

The star-shaped specialty donut, which is topped with blue icing and white sprinkles in honor of Make-A-Wish, will be available at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Central New York through September 12.

“The Star Donut campaign has had tremendous impact on our chapter and the Central New York children we serve,” said Make-A-Wish Central New York President and CEO Diane Kuppermann. “For the past 11 years, we’ve witnessed the smiles that result from these delicious donations, not only for Dunkin’ customers but for the critically ill kids and their families whose wishes will continue to come true thanks to this generosity. We are grateful for and proud of our partnership with Dunkin’, their franchisees, staff and patrons. Wishes continue to run on Dunkin’!”

Make-A-Wish Central New York creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses throughout a 15-county region of New York State. The organization has granted more than 2,000 wishes since inception in 1985.
