Cardona’s Market — a three-generation Italian specialty market and caterer for more than 80 years – has added a new sandwich to its menu, courtesy of Kristen Brayden, the winner of the market’s first ever Sandwich Creation Contest in celebration of National Sandwich Day.
Brayden’s winning recipe for the “K-Bray” features a chicken cutlet topped with hot soppressata, arugula, sharp provolone, hot pepper spread and honey mustard drizzle, served on an Italian roll.
Three finalists advanced to the final round on National Sandwich Day when their recipes were sampled by a panel of celebrity judges who ultimately selected Brayden’s creation as the winner at Cardona’s Latham Market. Brayden, a customer who frequents Cardona’s Saratoga Market, curated the ingredients for her “perfect sandwich” during a six-hour car ride. In addition to her sandwich being placed on the Cardona’s menu, Brayden won a year of free sandwiches from Cardona’s Market.
“Cardona’s is excited to add the “K-Bray” to the menu at all three Cardona’s Market locations, and proud to have observed National Sandwich Day this year in such a personal way with our loyal customers,” said Cardona’s Market Executive Chef/Partner Robert Cardona, Jr. “We are grateful for their participation in the Sandwich Creation Contest and for the distinguished panel of judges who chose the winning sandwich. Kristen’s creation is a tasty reminder of the ways good food inspires great things in all of us.”
