ALBANY, N.Y. – Cardona’s Market, a three-generation Italian specialty market and caterer for more than 75 years, today delivered hundreds of assorted treats to support the dedicated staff at Saratoga Hospital in advance of National Nurses Day.

Cardona’s Market donated several trays of baked goods to support doctors, nurses and hospital staff who work hard keeping the Saratoga Springs community healthy and safe. The initiative demonstrates Cardona’s longstanding history of serving the Capital Region community, which dates back to the market’s founding in 1945.

“We are so fortunate to have such a generous community,” said Mary Solomons, executive director of the Saratoga Hospital Foundation. “Today’s donation of special treats by Cardona’s Market for our nurses during National Nurses Week is a wonderful example of what we have experienced throughout the pandemic, which continues to be especially demanding on our frontline staff.”

“I know I can speak for our entire nursing staff here at Saratoga Hospital in thanking Cardona’s Market for the delightful dessert they shared with us today,” said Toni Bishop-McWain, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer at Saratoga Hospital. “National Nurses Week is a special time for us to recognize our nursing staff for the skill and compassion they bring to their work every day. Thank you for making today extra special.”

On Friday, May 6, Cardona’s Market will continue to show its appreciation and support for these selfless heroes, whose tireless work keeps the community healthy and safe, by offering them a free, house-made cookie with any purchase when they visit Cardona’s Market locations in Albany, Latham and Saratoga Springs, while supplies last.

“Cardona’s Market is proud to celebrate the upcoming National Nurses Day by delivering our signature cookies and treats to those who serve the community at Saratoga Hospital,” said Cardona’s Market Co-Owner T.J. Conti. “It’s important to recognize the heroic work and unwavering commitment nurses and healthcare professionals show every day. We encourage all healthcare heroes across the Capital Region to join us on Friday to celebrate National Nurses Day with a delicious treat courtesy of Cardona’s Market.”

For more than 75 years, Cardona’s Market has provided Capital Region residents top-quality Italian products, including meats, cheeses, olives, olive oils, vinegars, pastas and pantry staples. The market features a full selection of fresh-from-the-kitchen dishes, including restaurant-quality grab-and-go meals such as homemade lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, sauces and meatballs. Cardona’s also offers a complete menu of hand-crafted sandwiches, artisan salads, aromatic soups and fresh-baked bread.

The Latham market, located at 9 Cobbee Road, and Saratoga Springs market, located at 222 Washington Street, were previously acquired from Roma Foods Importing Company. The two new locations complement Cardona’s original flagship storefront at 340 Delaware Avenue in Albany.

The Albany location is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is closed on Sundays. The Latham market is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The store in Saratoga Springs is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
