BASKETBALL FANS TO EXPERIENCE CHAMPIONSHIP UP CLOSE WITH NEW MAAC TRAVELING TROPHY PROGRAM

Official MAAC championship trophy to appear at Capital Region locations leading up to annual tournament’s return to downtown Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. Basketball fans will have the opportunity to see the official championship trophy of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) up close at several Capital Region locations during the MAAC Traveling Trophy program.

The initiative will take place in the days leading up to the 2017 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, March 2-6 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY, featuring Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College, Marist College, Monmouth University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, St. Peter’s University, and Siena College.

“The MAAC championship trophy is what our student athletes compete for from the opening tip of the season in November through our Tournament in March,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “We want our fans to be able to share in the joy and excitement of months of competition by experiencing up close the hardware that our hard working student athletes and coaches hope to claim come Monday night of championship weekend.”

The official MAAC championship trophy will be showcased by several Tournament sponsors and will appear at the following locations:

  • Siena Men’s Basketball Game at the Times Union Center, Albany

Sunday, February 26 at 4 p.m.

Fans in attendance as the Saints take on Marist in their final home game will be welcome to have their photo taken with the MAAC championship trophy, with an optional donation to the American Heart Association. The trophy will be located on the arena concourse.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts, New York State Capitol Building, Albany

Tuesday, February 28 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the MAAC championship trophy.

Additionally, the staff at Pioneer Bank will have the opportunity to pose with the trophy in the days leading up to the tournament. Pioneer Bank will compose a short vignette featuring staff selfies alongside the MAAC championship trophy. The video will be posted on Pioneer Bank’s social media channels, including YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Ticket options for 2017 MAAC Basketball Championships

All-session passes are on sale for the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships. All-session passes, which grant access to all 20 games of the men’s and women’s tournament, are $97, $122, $167 and $227.

Flex ticket packages are also available for the MAAC Basketball Championships. Flex ticket packages include four tickets redeemable for any open seat during any session of the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, including both championship games. The tickets may be utilized for four seats to one session, one seat for four sessions, or any ensuing combination to enable fans to tailor the tournament experience to meet their needs.

Two sets of flex ticket packages, each comprised of four tickets, are available for this year’s tournament. The first package provides access to any open seat during any session and is $150. The second package provides access to any open seat in the lower level corners and end zones and is $100.
