ADIRONDACK THUNDER RAISES RECORD AMOUNT DURING ANNUAL STICK IT TO CANCER WEEKEND

The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils and Utica Comets, today announced record fundraising results for its annual “Stick it to Cancer” weekend at Cool Insuring Arena. Last month, the Eastern Conference and North Division regular season champion Thunder raised a record $46,897.38 for Randy’s Patient Assistance Fund.

On Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30, the Thunder hosted the Reading Royals at Cool Insuring Arena in special jerseys, which were auctioned off to benefit the CR Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital. Additionally, for a $10 donation, fans took to the ice after Friday’s game to paint inspirational messages and honor loved ones. Saturday’s game was contested on the painted ice.

The funds will benefit Randy’s Patient Assistance Fund, a support program at CR Wood Cancer Center completely funded by community donations that are provided to offset the financial burden of copayments, transportation and lodging for those undergoing cancer treatment.

“We are incredibly proud of our annual Stick it to Cancer initiative and the way it brings our community together,” said Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead. “We’re thrilled with the amount of money we were able to raise this year and we look forward to hosting the event again next year.”

The Thunder host the Maine Mariners in Game 1 of the North Division Semifinals, presented by Great Meadow Federal Credit Union, at Cool Insuring Arena on Friday, April 19 at 7 p.m. and Game 2 on Sunday, April 21 at 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at ECHLThunder.com or via phone at 518-480-3355.
