The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils and Utica Comets, generated a record $60,016 in donations during its annual “Stick it to Cancer” weekend at Harding Mazzotti Arena on February 27 and 28.
The funds raised as part of the annual event dramatically eclipsed the $37,323 collected in 2025 by more than 60 percent.
The team sponsored several activities during this past weekend’s contests against the Maine Mariners and the Trois-Rivières Lions to benefit Randy’s Patient Assistance Fund, a financial resource based at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital to assist the treatment needs of cancer patients.
“We could not be more thrilled with the outcome of this year’s Stick it to Cancer weekend to support Randy’s Fund at Glens Falls Hospital,” said Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead. “We thank the local community for showing up in a big way to benefit an invaluable cause during one of our most anticipated events of the year.”
In what has become a time-honored tradition during Stick it to Cancer weekend, fans painted the ice after Friday’s game to share inspirational messages or honor loved ones with a $10 donation to benefit Randy’s Patient Assistance Fund. The team sported special “Stick it to Cancer” jerseys during both games, which were then auctioned off following Saturday’s contest. A 50/50 raffle was also conducted during both contests to benefit Randy’s Fund.
The Thunder return home on Wednesday, March 18 when they host the Mariners at Harding Mazzotti Arena, with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
