Tournament returns to Times Union Center in Albany, NY, March 1-5

ALBANY, NY; – All-session passes to the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, March 1-5 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY, will go on sale Saturday, October 14 at 10 a.m.

All-session passes grant pass holders access to every game of the tournament from the opening round through the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Championships. The popular basketball tournament, featuring Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Rider, Saint Peter’s, and Siena, will return to Times Union Center for the 19th time.

“The Times Union Center is honored to host the MAAC basketball tournament for the fourth consecutive year. Downtown Albany has become the premier destination to showcase this outstanding display of athleticism and we are excited to host this event for the first time in our newly renovated facilities,” said Bob Belber, general manager of the Times Union Center. “All-session pass holders will have complete access to all 20 games of the tournament, and can watch some of the best players and teams in the Northeast as they compete for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.”

“We look forward to another exciting season of MAAC basketball this fall and another memorable tournament at the Times Union Center,” said MAAC Commissioner Richard Ensor. “After a monumental comeback by Siena in last year’s men’s semifinals and a thrilling overtime victory by Iona in the men’s championship game, there is little doubt that this year’s tournament will bring even more exciting finishes. In the women’s bracket, Quinnipiac will be looking to return to the NCAA tournament following last season’s historical run which culminated in an appearance in the Sweet 16. The Capital Region community has proven to be a tremendous host and we are excited to return to Albany for another five days of championship basketball.”

The tournament will be supported by a number of exciting fan activities, including the return of the MAAC-n-Cheese Fest. The tip-off event will again invite fans to sample gourmet mac-n-cheese from numerous area restaurants at the Albany Capital Center.
