Cardona’s Market, the family-owned Italian specialty grocer and caterer, today launched “The Starting Gate,” its first-ever breakfast sandwich to celebrate the start of the summer racing season. The Starting Gate will be available exclusively at Cardona’s Saratoga Market location beginning Friday, July 10.
The Starting Gate features Cardona’s Classic Italian frittata: an egg bake made with house-made Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, spinach and Italian seasoning topped with provolone and served on a toasted hard roll.
“Summer in Saratoga is synonymous with the finest thoroughbred horse racing in the world and Cardona’s wants to recognize this annual event in our own backyard with a tasty breakfast sandwich, aptly named ‘The Starting Gate’,” said Cardona’s Co-Owner and Executive Chef Robert Cardona, Jr. “Beginning the day with this hearty homemade sandwich is a great way to get into the spirit of a winning day at the track.”
The Starting Gate will be available for $8, hot and ready, in-store at Cardona’s Market in Saratoga each morning on track days, until sold out.
Cardona’s Saratoga market is located at 222 Washington Street and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
