Following the successful launch of “The Hutton”, named in honor of U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Captain and Capital Region native Claire Hutton, Cardona’s Market dropped off a largescale delivery of soccer gear donated by its customers as part of an equipment drive to benefit the Albany Soccer Club.
The Albany Soccer Club was hand-picked by Hutton and her family as the beneficiary for a donation drive at all three Cardona’s Market locations beginning with the launch of “The Hutton” on June 18.
Cardona’s Market Co-Owner August Cardona joined Albany Soccer President Dan Florek to deliver the donated equipment, including soccer balls and royal blue soccer socks.
Continuing with its mission and tradition of supporting local charities from its celebrity sandwiches, Cardona’s will earmark partial proceeds from sales of “The Hutton” to the Albany Soccer Club following the conclusion of the availability of the limited-time sandwich.
Established in 1996, the Albany Soccer Club provides youth soccer programming for local children with the mission to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of young people through soccer, including participation in tournaments across New York State.
Developed in collaboration with Hutton and based on one of her favorite sandwiches, the eponymously named sandwich features roast beef, ham and Swiss cheese topped with horseradish mayo, spring mix, tomato and house made citrus and serrano jam, served hot on a freshly toasted pretzel bun.
A nationally recognized standout from nearby Bethlehem Central High School, Hutton was selected for the U.S. Women’s National Team in February 2025 and earlier this year was named one of the team’s youngest captains ever at age 20. Ranked by ESPN as the ninth-best women’s soccer player in the world under 21, Hutton began her professional playing career three years ago and competes for the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) Bay FC based in San Jose, CA.
