Tri-City ValleyCats to host “Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger Night” to benefit The Food Pantries for the Capital District

Fans who bring three non-perishable food items to the game on July 29 will receive a free game ticket voucher

TROY, N.Y. – Hannaford Supermarkets and the Tri-City ValleyCats will team up to support hunger relief efforts with a special “Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger Night” on Saturday, July 29 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The food drive will take place during the home game against the Staten Island Yankees, which begins at 7 p.m.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to The Food Pantries for the Capital District. The collection will take place in the plaza area in front of the stadium’s main gate.

Fans who bring at least three non-perishable food items will receive one ticket voucher redeemable for a Tri-City ValleyCats home game during the 2017 season. The voucher may be redeemed at the ValleyCats box office.

“Hannaford is committed to fighting hunger within the communities we serve and we are honored to partner with the Tri-City ValleyCats on this initiative,” said Hannaford Supermarkets Community Relations Specialist Brian Fabre. “We encourage baseball fans to join us for a night of action on the field while supporting The Food Pantries for the Capital District.”

“The ValleyCats are excited to continue our partnership with Hannaford to help fight hunger in the Capital Region and beyond,” said Matt Callahan, general manager for the Tri-City ValleyCats. “This is an excellent opportunity for our organization and fans to make a positive impact by supporting The Food Pantries for the Capital District.”

The Food Pantries for the Capital District is a coalition of 56 food pantries in Albany, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Counties, working together to feed the hungry. Its mission is to address hunger in the Capital District through member food pantries by funding, purchasing, collecting, and delivering food.

The Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger campaign is an extension of the work that local Hannaford stores and distribution centers engage in daily.
