Fundraising walk will create a parade of balloons through the campus
Saratoga Springs, N.Y., – The Wesley Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs, will host its first Balloon Walk, presented by Medline Industries, Inc., on Saturday, October 4 at 9:30 a.m. at The Wesley Community.
Participants will walk a 1-mile or .25-mile course, collecting colorful balloons along the route to create a parade of color. In addition, a hot-air balloon will be on display at The Wesley Community campus near the Community Garden area (weather permitting).
Funds raised through the first-time event will further The Wesley Foundation’s efforts to enhance programs and services and improve upon the high level of care offered at The Wesley Community.
“The Balloon Walk is a fun, unique and new event that will raise money for a great cause – caring for our seniors through the life changing work at The Wesley Community,” said Tim Busch, Event Co-Chair and Wesley Foundation Board Member.
“The first Balloon Walk is a fun way to raise funds to assist The Wesley Community, an organization that cares for more than 700 seniors and people with disabilities from throughout the region,” said Garth Ellms, Event Co-Chair and Wesley Foundation Board Member.
“The stream of colorful balloons carried by thoughtful members of our community will surely bring smiles to the faces of our residents. We couldn’t be more excited for this event and the funds that will be raised to support our mission in caring for the senior population,” said J. Brian Nealon, Chief Executive Officer of The Wesley Community.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the opening ceremonies and walk commencing at 9:30 a.m. Family activities and refreshments will be available from 9 a.m. to noon for participants and volunteers.
The registration fee is $20 for adults and $15 for children and all participants will receive a Balloon Walk t-shirt.
Medline Industries, Inc. will serve as Presenting Sponsor of the Balloon Walk. The Platinum Balloon Sponsors are The Fort Miller Group, Inc., Ellms Family Farm, UNO Pizzeria and Grill and Golden Corral, The Saratogian and Corinna Beau Letterpress.
