Donation coincides with return to school for children and families who rely on program for nutritious meals
TROY, New York – The Hannaford Charitable Foundation today announced a $15,000 donation to support the food services program at the Troy Boys & Girls Club.
The funding enables the Troy Boys & Girls Club to better serve at-risk youth throughout the Capital Region by supplementing its kitchen facilities with a walk-in cooler and freezer. The new additions are vital to a food services program that provides more than 1,500 nutritious meals each school day to children in need.

The food services program at the Troy Boys & Girls Club not only provides children throughout the community with well-balanced meals, but also teaches them about nutrition and healthy eating habits,” said Hannaford Supermarkets Community Relations Specialist Brian Fabre. “Hannaford commends the Troy Boys & Girls Club for its dedication to helping our local youth maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.”
Each meal served through the food services program at the Troy Boys & Girls Club contains a protein, whole fruit and/or vegetable, grain, and dairy component. The daily menu is designed to combat nutrition-related illnesses such as diabetes and obesity.
“Now more than ever it is important to allow access to nutritious meals for our youth. We are excited for the opportunity to feed more youth throughout the Capital Region with our new walk in cooler and freezer,” said Troy Boys & Girls Club CEO Patrick Doyle. “We also add an educational component to assure that our youth participate in healthy habits.
